JMC to beautify Tawi Arti Ghat

JAMMU, Feb 8: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) will make Tawi Arti Ghat, Bikram Chowk, an exemplary a beautiful and modern Tawi Ghat by illumination it and keeping it neat and clean. This was disclosed by JMC Commissioner Mandeep Kour. She also visited Tawi Bank and took notice of illegal encroachment and illegal construction of toilets and houses on the banks of river Tawi.
Addressing Tawi Andolan activists, she said that strict orders will be issued for removal of encroachments and JMC will make all efforts to keep Tawi water clean and unpolluted. JMC Commissioner while appreciating the initiative of Tawi Andolan and Namami Ganga programme gave assurance that JMC will help making public aware of not throwing garbage into Tawi.
Mandeep Kour made an appeal to the public to provide land for slaughter house and for installing solid waste management project.
Mubarik Singh, Vice-Chairman Jammu Development Authority (JDA), while addressing Tawi activists disclosed the plan of development of Tawi banks, diversion of filling nallas and also about the project of developing the land and the pond located at Bikram Chowk behind Shiva Mandir. He further disclosed that Maharaja Hari Singh Park located on the bank of river Tawi will be made a beautiful garden for visit and Surajputri worshiper .
Appreciating both the officers, Adv. Chander Mohan Sharma, Convener of Tawi Andolan and Namami Ganga project said that it is matter of that State Government has a comprehensive plan to develop the portion of Tawi river which passes   through Jammu city. He further said that Tawi Andolan is basically an environment protection initiative and it has started from most neglected  polluted and damaged river Tawi. Besides, Tawi being revered as Surajpurti is our life line and has tremendous potential of tourism and pilgrimage. For us our mission of rejuvination of whole of river Tawi, right from its origin i.e. Kaplash Kund, to its merger with River Chenab and Andolan will keep on striving for that latter on both Mandeep Kour and Mubarik Singh alongwith their team of engineers and sanitary staff participated in Tawi Arti and took Prasad etc. They enjoyed devotional songs present of Neemal and Mohid Sharma.
