JMC destroys milk, imposes Rs 17,300 fine

JAMMU, Aug 22: A team of Jammu Municipal Corporation led by Health Officer today conducted surprise inspection in Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar and other city areas and destroyed 100 Ltr milk, ice cream and other cooked items.
The team of Food Inspectors led by Health officer Dr Saleem Khan also imposed a fine of Rs 17,300 on the defaulters and also seized 25 kg plastic carry bags from some shops. The JMC team booked Mewar Ice Cream workshop at Shastri Nagar, M/s Casino Milk Shop at Channi Himmat, a Surya Milk outlet, Darshan Halwai shop at Nai Basti and several other milk shops in the area and destroyed nearly 100 Ltrs of unwholesome milk on the spot. About 3 quintals sub-standard  ice cream was also destroyed on the spot. Some other expired food items were  seized and vendors challaned. A total fine of Rs 17,300 was realized on the spot.
