JMC conducts sanitation drive

JAMMU, Oct 8: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) conducted a sanitation drive in Gangyal area.
The drive was launched by Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, Deputy Commissioner Jammu accompanied by Rajesh Sharma, Joint Commissioner (A), JMC.
Sufficient number of men and machinery was deployed by Health and Sanitation Wing and Transport Wing of JMC for this drive. During this drive, parking areas, lanes and bazaar were cleaned and lime also sprinkled at the dirty pockets.
Shopkeepers have been advised to use dustbins for disposal of garbage of their shops and dispose the garbage at nearby collection point or container. About two trucks of garbage and debris were removed with the help of vehicles deployed on the spot.
The shopkeepers also assured their cooperation to JMC to conduct this kind of activities to make Jammu clean and green and to make Swachh Bharat Abhiyan a successful mission. They also assured to JMC that all the shopkeepers will keep dustbins in their business premises and dispose the garbage at a proper place so that the said area can be maintained clean and green.
Joint Commissioner appealed the public to cooperate with JMC in keeping Jammu Clean and Green and also not to use polythene carry bags. He requested general public to use dustbins or containers installed in their localities for throwing garbage to make Swachh Bharat Mission a successful mission.
Chief Transport Officer Tarik Raina, Health Officer, Dr Anita Salgotra, Sanitation Officer, Transport officers, Assistant Sanitation officer, sanitation staff and locals were also present.
The JMC is taking these initiatives in addition to the already initiated drives for cleanliness and fogging to check the dengue.
