JAMMU, Feb 2: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Commissioner, Dr Manmohan Singh took stock of the ongoing developmental works under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme amounting to Rs 14 crores.
Commissioner visited different areas including Peerkho, Circular Road, Panjtirthi Parking, Ambphalla, Saraswati Vihar, Toph Sherkhania, Kamla Palace Road, Canal Road, Nai Basti, Digiana and Jeevan Nagar and took stock of ongoing development works under AMRUT.
He also visited the site at Circular Road which has been proposed for construction of multi-tier parking at an amount of Rs 15 crores.
Funds under AMRUT has been meant for undertaking construction of lanes, drains, deep drains, nallahs, developmental of green spaces and parking so that there can be no obstruction in free flow of water during monsoon, providing of parking facilities to the citizens as well as development of green spaces to give neat and green look to the city and also to create healthy atmosphere.
Commissioner also inspected the ongoing works of bus queue shelters at Ambphalla, BC Road, pedestrian walkway along river Tawi from Peerkho to PHE Station, Jammu. He also took stock of nallah flowing from Karan Nagar to Shunktala theatre.
Dr Singh gave on the spot directions to the concerned officers for completion of ongoing developmental works in a time bound manner and also directed them to directly approach him in case they face any difficult in respect of on going development works.
The officers who accompanied the Commissioner, JMC were RS Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (A), Kushal Chand, Joint Commissioner (Works), Dr Anita Salgotra, Health Officer, Dr Jaswant Singh, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Prabodh Sharma, Executive Engineer (Central), Surjit Singh, Executive Engineer (Electric), Rajan Sharma, Executive Engineer (UEED), Kamni Kesar, Chief Enforcement Officer and field staff.
