JKTDC employees oppose privatization move

JAMMU, Dec 24: The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism  Development  Corporation (JKTDC) Employees  Union has strongly opposed the move of privatization of the Government.
Talking to the media persons here today senior trade Union leader and state president of  J&K Peoples Democratic Trade Union (PDPTU), Suresh Sharma lambasted the TDC management for privatizing the working of the  Corporation  and jeopardizing the interests of  the employees.
Sharma warned the  management to desist from going ahead with the process of privatization of the JKTDC working. He alleged that the   management is hell bent to out source various units of the Corporation. This move is detrimental to the health of the Corporation and interests of the employees working here, he added.
The trade union leader further said the management should learn lesson from the past experience  when they out sourced the same and the private contractors had badly failed  to run the units privatized earlier and defaulted miserably. They were Jhajjar Kotli, Dayala Chak, Chichi Mata and Lakhanpur besides Jewel restaurant  Katra.
Lal Singh, president JKTDC Employees Union said that instead of running the Corporation on the commercial lines  by the professionals, the management of the bureaucrats is going for the experiments every time having least knowledge about Hotel industry.  He appealed  to the workers / employees  to remain united for waging a long struggle  for their own cause.
He also declared formal affiliation of the JKTDC Union with the JKPDTU and  said that Union would launch one hour protest/ strike from 11 am to 12 noon from December 28, onwards at TRC complex to express its anger against the Govt decision.
Abdul Manan Bhat, Nayeem Beig, Bashir Ahmed, Ravinder Bhat and Mohd Saleem Sambyal were also present.
