JKSDA, Tourism Deptt organizing 13th Tour de Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Aug 30: J&K Sports Development Association (JKSDA) in collaboration with Tourism Department Kashmir is all set to host the 13th edition of the 6-Stage Tour de Kashmir cycling expedition in October, here.
To conduct the highly popular, grueling cycling event of the Country, JKSDA and Tourism Department have started preparations.
The proposed 6-stage national level 386-kilomtre open cycling event would begin on October 3 and will culminate on October 9. This was informed by JKSDA senior vice-president Rauf Ahmad Tramboo.
“We have started the preparations and have got positive reaction from the Tourism department led by Secretary Tourism, Farooq Ahmad Shah. The countdown has already started and we are all set to host biggest cycling of the Country in October,” said Mr Tramboo.
Started in year 2000 after getting inspiration from Tour de France, the event over the years has emerged as one of the premier cycling event of the Country. For the first 11 editions event was confined to local level only. However, in year 2013 it was turned into national level event with the introduction of five stages.
