JAMMU, Feb 22: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) delegation today submitted a memorandum to the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr Pawan Kotwal, demanding simplification of the procedure of applying for the release of relief package as announced by the Prime Minister.
The delegation was led by its president Gurdev Singh. They submitted the memorandum to a senior officer there on behalf of the Divisional Commissioner. They demanded that the application forms should be made available district wise to all the Deputy Commissioner’s to provide to DP’s through the Tehsildars / Naib Tehsildars of the respective districts.
It was also demanded that the powers should be delegated to all the Tehsildars / Naib Tehsildars to accept the forms with requisite formalities and after completion of all the documents along with application form, the same should be submitted to Provincial Rehabilitation Officer’s (PRO) office, Jammu for further process of verification.
They alleged that DPs in PRO office are facing lot of harassment particularly old widows and infirm DPs while obtaining the application/ claim forms. Because of inflow of DPs from all the sides there are long queues and DPs have to stand there for hours together. As the DP’s are coming to obtain the form also from far off places of Jammu region in huge number and it has become practically difficult for them to go back to their homes on the same day after getting the application forms. So, arrangements should be made to provide the application forms to DPs at their places through the established offices of Tehsil and Niabats. It was also demanded that Tehsildars / Naib Tehsildars of all the respective districts having powers of Magistrate Ist Class be allowed to attest the power of attorney in respect of those DP families having many share holders.
It was pleaded to the Divisional Commissioner to reconsider these suggestion and issue necessary orders for making the disbursement smooth, hassle free and transparent within the time frame.
