J&K’s Sumitpal claims Tennis title

JAMMU, Apr 22: Defeating Arnab Bharadwaj of Gurgaon in Haryana in a tough contest in the summit clash, Sumitpal Singh of Jammu and Kashmir won the title trophy in the All India Talent Series of Lawn Tennis Tournament Under-18 boys at Tennis Excellence Academy, JP International School, Sonipat in Haryana.
Sumitpal drubbed the rival in a thrilling contest by (3-6, 6-2, 7-6) and tie-breaker (7-1) to lift the trophy.
Earlier, after receiving a bye in the first round, Sumitpal outclassed Bhavesh Aggarwal of Haryana in the second round by (8-2) and got better of Sahishnu of  Chandigarh in the third round again by (8-2).
In the fourth round, Sumitpal defeated Abhimanyu Dabas of Delhi by (4-0, 4-2) and in the fifth round or quarterfinals, Sumitpal outplayed Ramanjot Singh of Punjab by (4-1, 4-0), while in the semifinals, he beat Rohit Kumar of Haryana by (6-2, 6-2).
