J&K’s 1st female Santoor player Dr Veethika awarded PhD

JAMMU, Sept 24: First and the only Classical Santoor Player of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Veethika Tikoo, has been declared qualified for the prestigious award of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Hindustani Music through an open viva-voce conducted by an expert team of examiners at Delhi recently.
Proud daughter of Prof (Dr) Padmini Tikoo, Sitar Maestro and RK Tikoo, well known socio-cultural activist, Dr Tikoo is MA in Santoor from Allahabad and M. Mus in Sitar from DU.
Dr Tikoo has the honour of playing Classical Santoor in almost all the States of India.
She was invited to play Classical Solo Santoor recital in the festival of young musicians and dancers organised by the Government of NCT of Delhi, where people appreciated her extraordinary talent to carry great traditions of Hindustani Music and Jammu-Kashmir’s Sufiana Gharana to future generations.
