JKRCEA urges CM to protect rights of reserved categories

JAMMU, June 3: Castigating the State Government for completely ignoring the burning demands of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other reserved categories, Jammu Kashmir Reserved Categories Empowerment Alliance (JKRCEA), in its Executive Body meeting today held at Bahu Fort, near here has urged the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to immediately intervene and initiate measures to safeguard the rights of SC/ST & OBC people.
The meeting urged her that appropriate steps be taken to settle the burning issues once for all otherwise JKRCEA would launch a State wide campaign against the step motherly treatment of the present coalition towards them.
Bodh Raj Bhagat, president of Socio-Religious Wing of JKRCEA, who chaired today’s meeting, said that the Government has been apprised from time to time about the burning demands of these communities which include restoration of reservation in promotions, appointing of SC Member to JKPSC, filling of backlog vacancies and inter-district recruitment for ST category but unfortunately the authorities have not paid any heed to the plights of SC/ST & OBC which is not a good sign.
He urged the Chief Minister to personally intervene to settle the issues of these communities and stop ignoring these peoples who constitute about 60% of total population of the State.
Sham Lal Basson said that it is unfortunate that despite the fact that the Apex Court has stayed the High Court verdict on reservation in promotions and the J&K High Court has also ordered for implementation of Apex Court ruling in the case, the Government machinery has adopted contemptuous attitude and has out rightly defied the Court orders.
Prof. G.L.Thappa said that the JKRCEA has apprised the Chief Minister about the demand of restoration of reservation in promotion and despite the fact the necessary directions were issued by her to the then Law Minister to forthwith settle the issue, the genuine demand of huge population of the State is still not acceded.
Mohinder Bhagat, president All J&K Bhagat Mahasabha, demanded appointment of a SC member to J&K Public Service Commission.
Prof. Kali Dass, R.C.Bhasin, Som Raj Taroch, Manohr Lal, R.L.Dogra , Sat Paul, Nighat Shafeeq, Pawan Bhagat and  Manoj Kumar also spoke on the occasion.
