JAMMU, Apr 24: Alleging large scale irregularities, nepotism, corruption and regional discrimination with Jammu in the process of selections conducted by PSC for the post of lecturers in School Education besides Assistant Professors in various disciplines in the Department of Higher Education, Panthers Party activists led by Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP, Yash Paul Kundal State President Young Panthers along with other leaders held a vociferous protest demonstration outside the office of JKPSC in Jammu today.
While speaking on the occasion, Harsh Dev Singh expressed astonishment over the recent impugned selection of plus two lecturers in the Commerce. He said that as per reports, the JKPSC had not called several eligible candidates for the interview despite having secured highest marks in the written examination. “Moreover, the recruitment agency had once again come under scanner for large scale irregularities whereby it shockingly awarded 41 marks out of maximum 40 in the interview to some candidates in an alleged bid to subvert the merit”, said Harsh quoting a media report.
He revealed that the persistent discriminatory omissions and commissions by the PSC had been a main cause of embitterment among the highly qualified youth of Jammu region which could explode any moment like a volcano.
He made a particular mention of the recently published select list of lecturers in Chemistry in which out of total 59 posts, 41 candidates have been selected from Kashmir and 18 from Jammu while in the RBA category, Out of total 21 posts, 16 candidates are from Kashmir province and only five are from Jammu. Similarly, he added, out of total 34 posts of 10+2 Lecturers in Urdu, 30 candidates have been selected from Kashmir and four from Jammu. In the RBA category out of total 11 posts, 07 candidates are from Kashmir province while 04 are from Jammu. Similar was the position with the select list of Assistant Professors in the discipline of Commerce in which mere 13 posts went to Jammu region out of 58 and the rest were dished out to Kashmir.
He further demanded installations of CCTVs during the PSC interviews for better transparency and to check the malpractices in the recruitment.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Yash Paul Kundal,Rajesh Padgotra, Partap Singh, Nirmal Kishore, Ram Paul Sharma, Khajoor Singh, Rohit Sharma, Kailash Mohan, Capt. Narotam Singh Jamwal (Rtd), Krishan Manhas, Ajay Kumar, Kewal Krishan Sharma besides others.
