JAMMU, Apr 25: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today held a protest demonstration in front of the Raj Bhawan against the traditional practice of ‘Darbar Move’ terming it as a ‘wasteful expenditure’ on the State exchequer.
Led by State president, JKNPP and MLA, Udhampur, Balwant Singh Mankotia, a large number of activists and leaders of the party today held demonstrations and protests against the State Government, demanding to put an end to the practice of annual ‘Darbar Move’.
Darbar Move is a bi-annual exercise of shifting the Secretariat and all other Government offices from one Capital city to another in the State.
The Government should save huge money being spent on ‘Darbar Move’ to provide employment for unemployed youth and the State which has burdened the State exchequer,” Mr Mankotia told reporters.
JKNPP asserted for running the Secretariat on the pattern of J&K High Court, around the year on both places without moving files. “If High Court can work at both the places, why not the Civil Secretariat?” he asked.
He urged the Governor, N N Vohra to direct the State Government not to shift the files related to Jammu province to the Valley.
Mankotia also alleged that there is huge bungling in the CAPD Department in the distribution of ration.
All the Government ration depots are dried up and people are facing problems as ration is not available in the ration depot, JKNPP president said, demanding a high level inquiry into the shortage as well as embezzlement of ration in the State.
