JAMMU, Jan 2: Peeved over the deteriorating situation in J&K and the State Government’s surrender to the dictates of secessionists, a number of JKNPP activists held a protest demonstration, here today, seeking immediate dissolution of J&K Assembly and imposition of Governor rule.
Led by Harshdev Singh, chairman JKNPP and Yash Paul Kundal, State president Young Panthers, the JKNPP activists raised slogans against the BJP- PDP coalition and torched an effigy of the Government for its failures and surrenders.
While addressing the gathering, Harshdev Singh lampooned the Government for having failed to respond appropriately to the situation created in the wake of killing of Hizb commander Burhan Wani in the Valley and the resultant turbulence witnessed in the State. He regretted that the anarchy had led to assault on Amar Nath Ji pilgrims, civil unrest, clashes, shut downs, public attacks on police stations and security forces in Kashmir, death and destruction, sympathy with the families of militants, release of stone pelters, etc. He said that the Ministers despicably abdicating their public duties and undergoing hibernation had allowed the situation to further deteriorate as the separatists, subversives and anti nationals had virtually taken control of the situation by running a parallel Government in the State.
Also lambasting the State Government for clearing ex-gratia to the next of the kin of Burhan Wani’s brother Khalid Wani, who was an OGW of Hizbul Mujahideen, Harshdev Singh accused the BJP partnered dispensation for appeasing and placating the secessionists of the Valley. He said that the State Government had categorically invalidated the claims of the Army that Khalid was a militant to which the BJP rendered itself mute and barefaced for remaining glued to power.
“On the contrary, the dispensation paid no heed to provide ex-gratia to the NOK of martyrs who had attained supreme sacrifice while confronting worse Pak sponsored terror attacks and persistent heavy mortar shelling from across the border. Likewise, the State Government once again jeopardized the conferment of Domicile certificates to nearly 1.5 lakh West Pakistan Refugees who were divested of PRC rights,” Mr Singh said and accused the combine of taking U-turn over the issue by announcing substitution of Domicile Certificates by Identity Certificates for the WPRs.
He said that the prevailing situation in the State called for immediate dissolution of J&K Assembly and imposition of Governor Rule under sec 92 of the State’s constitution to save it from further destruction.
