JKMEF’s chain hunger strike enters 6th day

JAMMU, Oct 30: The chain hunger strike of Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation (JKMEF) entered into 6th day here at Madam Shashi Bala Memorial Park in the premises of Director Health Services (DHS) complex.
Today’s chain hunger strike was observed by a team of health employees of block Dansal of Jammu district. The team includes Anil Khajuria, Manoj Gupta, Sushil Sharma, Vikram, Lakhan Pal and Rajesh Kumar.
The main issues and demands for which the health employees have resorted to chain hunger strike include clearance of Departmental Promotion of all categories to fill up the vacant posts at various levels, transparency in transfer policy of department, amendment of SRO-20 which is still pending in secretariat since 25 years and national benefit to the all adhoc and contractual employees of the department.
The other burning demands include risk allowance to all medical employees, filling up of all vacant posts of gazetted/non-gazetted cadre as per sanctioned position in rural areas as well as in urban health institutions, implementation of bio-metric attendance at gazetted level at par with non- gazetted employees and adequate supply of medicine in all health institutions.
Others who addressed and sat with the striking employees were Vinod Kumar, secretary general, JKMEF, RP Singh, Jarnail Choudhary, Madan Lal, Vishal Patil, Onkar Singh, Kulraj, Jugal Bakshi, Uttam Chand, Shaffket Hussain, Pawan Singh Jamwal and Rakesh Hangloo.
