JAMMU, May 30: All Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation (JKLTF) has expressed serious concern over the recent transfers in the Education Department alleging that illegal transfers are being done  by the department to favour their near and dears.
During a conference of the Federation held today under the chairmanship of Mohan Singh, president and Maheshwar Parshad, working president, the speakers said that Minister of Education, Naeem Akhter and Chief Secretary, Education, Shaleen Kabra had stated that transfers in Jammu province will be done in June and July while in Kashmir it will be done in January and February and so says the transfer policy of the department but it is unfortunate that in Jammu transfers are continue from December last year to till date without any break.
The speakers alleged that even single transfer orders were issued by the department in favour of near and dears and that too at zero kilometers. They alleged that those who are hand in glove with the authorities are getting choice based transfers while others are deprived of transfers despite working continuously in far flung areas for 5-8 years.
The Federation further said that even Masters having Medical Board certificates and handicapped certificate could not get suitable transfers or adjustments and are still working in far flung areas. “In this situation, the Federation feels that directorate is working fully under the influence of favouritism, nepotism and corruption”, the speakers added.
The speakers further expressed concern over delay in supply of books, not clearing Mid-Day Meal liabilities and not releasing the salary of teachers under SSA, RMSA, NPS regularly. They also demanded that teachers attached in offices of DSE, CEO, ZEO and DC and SDM be detached at an earliest as there is acute shortage of teaching staff in rural areas.
