JKHWA criticizes Govt for ignoring issues of disabled persons

JAMMU, Sept 27: Jammu-Kashmir Handicapped Welfare Association (JKHWA), Jammu has expressed concern over non-inclusion of various issues concerning handicap people in a meeting chaired yesterday by the Governor NN Vohra at Srinagar to discuss problems of disabled persons.
In a statement, RC Sharma, ex-State president, JKHWA, Jammu, said that it is a matter of great sorrow and displeasure that many vital issues concerning handicapped people like enhancement of reservation quota, advertisement of backlog posts from 1998 to till date, free education to disabled children as well as children of disabled persons, concession in electricity and water taxes, implementation of various schemes like IAY, PMGSY, PMAY and MGNREGA, clear cut transfer policy for physically handicapped employees, etc were not taken during the meeting.
He said that other burning demands like enhancement in pension quotas of all categories, allotment of funds for cases pending from 2009 to till date, implementation of bus fare concession order issued by the Government, issuance of multipurpose I-Card to disable persons and provision of BPL ration card to disabled persons were also not discussed in the meeting.
Sharma further criticized the department of Social Welfare for not inviting Jammu based association in the meeting and urged the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, to fulfill the demands of the disabled persons in toto.
