JKGTF submits suggestions to Secy School Education

JAMMU, Mar 9: A delegation of Jammu Kashmir Government Teachers Forum (JKGTF) under the chairmanship of State chairman Amar Nath Thakur,  met Secretary School Education  Farooq Ahmed Shah  and handed him over a memorandum of 27  academic suggestions addressed to Chairman Academic Committee Amitabh Mattoo,  Advisor to  Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, to be incorporated and considered by the State level Academic Committee appointed for suggesting necessary reforms to improve the quality education and excellence in education sector.
The main suggestions mentioned in the memorandum are, installation of CCTV cameras in all examination centers from primary to post graduate level,  review of “ no detention policy, discouraging mass promotion policy up to 9th class,  appointment of examination supervisory staff on rotational bases, rationalisation of teaching staff,  implementing rational and transparent transfer policy for teachers and  Lecturers, providing at least three teacher in primary schools, transfer of ReT teachers at village and zonal level as per selection, banning all attachments and favourite deployments, appointment of  subject teachers in schools, creation of HRM cell in the department for regular promotion of all cadres, appointment of Directors from the Education Department having administrative and academic excellence, filling all vacant posts of teaching staff, constitution of staff quarters in rural areas, cut in CCA in Jammu and Srinagar cities for those   teaching staff living in their homes and deployed or attached unnecessary , strengthen of infrastructure of all schools like libraries, laboratories, teaching tools, no political interference in transfers, creation of separate Directorate for elementary and higher  education, providing regular training to teachers, dislocation allowance to teaching staff appointed in rural and remote areas, exempting teaching from other duties, cut in the salary  of teaching staff sitting idle in  schools  with out work, proper academic calendar etc.
The delegation said that  stopping increment and suspension of teaching staff for poor results was  not the solution  while  closing schools for students and teaching staff on the day of examination where center for 10th and 12th classes are created was  unjustified and humiliation of teachers as well as  loss of students’ studies .
The delegation comprised of  S Parveen Singh, Jagdish Sharma, Ravesh Saraf , Romesh Kumar   and others.
