JKGB conducts awareness camps under ‘Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan’

RAJOURI, Apr 23: J&K Grameen Bank (JKGB) today conducted awareness camps under “Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan” at village Lam and Qila Darhal, the unbanked areas near LoC in Nowshera tehsil of the district.
The campaign was conducted by Micro Finance and Financial Inclusion Department under the chairmanship of RK Chhibber. Des Raj, DDM NABARD, who is reviewed the Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan (an initiative for reaching out to the poor households in villages of districts Jammu, Rajouri, Kathua, Samba and Kishtwar), was the chief guest on the occasion.
Regional Manager, RK Narang, Rajouri & Poonch JKGB, while speaking on the occasion, said that the programme was focussed on maximum enrolment of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).
At least 200 people attended both the camps and at least 150 enrolments were done during the programme. A touching 2000 enrolments has been done by the bank so far under this campaign in just 9 days. The initiative was plans to spread awareness regarding the various schemes of the bank with special rate of interests including Car Loan@9.40%, Housing Loan@8.35% and Transport & School Bus Loan@10.25%, Education Loan@8.35 & Mortgage Loans for Trade & Service Sector@ 11.75%.
The masses was also about technological innovations in banking industry including NEFT/RTGS, Online Banking, IMPS, SMS Banking, Rupay Card, Aadhaar Enabled Payment System, Direct Benefit Transfer etc. to promote the digital banking and move towards the less-cash economy.
Mohinder Singh, Branch Head Lam, also made the people aware regarding use of social security schemes. He threw light on various lending schemes tailored by the bank for general public which are available on easy EMIs and rate of interest charged by the bank is very competitive. RuPay debit cards were also distributed to the customers on the occasion.
