JKFFA celebrates Birth Anniversary of Dhanwantri

JAMMU, Mar 7: Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Fighters Association (JKFFA) held an impressive function to remember Comrade Dhanwantri, the great freedom fighter of Jammu, on his 116th Birth Anniversary, at Dogra Shourya Samarak, here today.
Member Legislative Council, Vikram Randhawa was the chief guest while the function was organized by president, JKFFA, Ved Gandotra.
All the members of the association and the guests paid floral tributes to Comrade Dhanwantri. Students from Luthra Academy, Kachi Chawani also participated in the function and paid floral tributes to the great freedom fighter.
Ved Gandotra, in his introductory note, said that Comrade Dhanwantri was born on March 7, 1902 at Kali Janni Jammu, in the family of Dr (Col) Durga Datt Mahey. He said, “Dhanwantri was the ideologue and activist of the Revolutionary Group led by Bhagat Singh and Chander Shekhar Azad who had the vision and programme to liberate India from British Imperialist slavery and make India a Socialist state.
The members said that the coming generation must know the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and the Martyrs, who gave up everything even their lives, to them in a free and prosperous country.
The members also asked the youth of the Valley to shun violence, get freed from the fascist and racist slogans of the separatists and the anti-national elements. They also appealed to MLC Vikram Randhawa to construct a room with kitchen in a land near the Samarak for a watchman who will maintain cleanliness in the area.
After listening to the demand of JKFFA members, the MLC assured them that he will provide financial support for the aforesaid room.
