JKAACL organises first ever Dogri seminar at Bani

BANI, Nov 10: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) organized one day seminar in Dogri for the first time in remote area of Bani.
Jeevan Lal,  MLA, Bani was the chief guest and ND Jamwal, eminent Dogri writer, poet and renowned artist presided over the program. Prof Asha Ram, Principal, Government Degree College, Bani, Ajit Singh Padwal- SDM Bani, Ashok Khajuria, Principal, Government Higher Secondary School, Bani,  Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages were also present in the presidium.
While delivering his presidential address, ND Jamwal complimented Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for organizing Dogri seminar here at Bani for the first time. Stressing upon the importance of Dogri as  mother tongue he said that the youth of the present times is attracted towards the westernized culture and a gap between the young generation and the mother tongue is increasing and this is the alarming situation and one must realize that the teaching of Dogri language with the birth of the child should be started through the mother folk in the respective areas. He  said youth should come forward to write and speak the mother tongue.
Addressing gathering the MLA said that to promote Dogri language and literature the regular activities should be organized in this area so that the local folk should get a space at the national and international scene through the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. He also promised the full cooperation from local administration in organizing literary and folk musical and dance activities in this area. He also appealed the youth to follow the path of the prominent Dogri writers of the Kathua district who contributed in developing the Dogri language and literature.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, of the  Academy informed about the future activities of the JKAACL and said that the regular activities related to the literature and language of the region including traditional folk will be organized as an when required here at Bani. He also highlighted the future activities of the J&K Cultural Academy.
Shiv Doblia, renowned Dogri writer and folk artist from Basohli presented key note address in which he portrayed the literature in Dogri of the Kathua district. The first paper reading session was presided by Dhian Singh, senior Dogri writer and folk performer and those who presented their papers include:  Khajur Singh (Kathua Di Dogri Kavita: Dasha Te Disha), Ashok Amber (Jilla Kathua Da Dogri Upnyas: Dasha Te Disha), Dr Padam Dev Singh Nadan (Kathua Di Dogri kahani: Dasha Te Disha),  Onkar Padha, (Jilla Kathua da Lok Sahitya Te Sanskriti: Dasha Te Disha). Many poets recited their compositions.
