J&K Winter Sports team leaves for Manali

SRINAGAR, Jan 31: After holding two daylong selection trials at Gulmarg, Winter Games Association of J&K selected Senior Alpine Ski Men and Women teams, comprising of 7 winter sports athletes, who left for Manali (Himachal Pradesh) to take part in the Senior Alpine Skiing Men and Women National Championship, being organized by the Winter Games Association of Himachal Pradesh.
The senior skier Bilal Ahmad is the team captain. The team would take part in all competing events like Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super G.
Before leaving for Manali, the Screening Committee of J&K State Sports Council, cleared the team for its participation in the Championship.
The Association expressed its gratitude to Director Tourism, Mahmood Ahmad Shah for providing logistic support to conduct the trials smoothly. The WGAJK also conveyed thanks to Traffic Police National Highway for making it possible to cross the Jawahar Tunnel in late hours.
Meanwhile, the Junior Alpine Skiing Championship is going to be held at Auli Uttarakhand in the 3rd week of February for which the Association will hold selection trials soon.
