JAMMU, Jan 13: Jammu and Kashmir Paddlers proved their mettle yet again at the National scene by winning one silver and one bronze medal in the ongoing Canoe Slalom Men and Women National Championship, being held at Meheshwar, Indore in Madhya Pradesh.
State’s ace Paddler Villayat Hussain Malik won both the medals-with silver on the other day and bronze today.
It was a historical result for Jammu and Kashmir in these events as the paddlers defeated strong and formidable rivals in the Championship.
Villayat is the trainee of J&K’s ace coach, Bilquis Mir, who has the distinction of producing International stuff from Jammu and Kashmir, besides having the honour of being Chief Coach of India, apart from being a State and Sher-e-Kashmir awardee.
“Villayat is a special talent. He is a delight to watch when on song. He is, time and again, bringing laurels for himself and for the State as well. I have been training him for the last four years. He is an outstanding learner,” said Bilquis while confirming his achievements in the ongoing Championship.
