J&K to revisit pollution control regulations to curb carbon emissions: Lal Singh

KATHUA, Nov 26: Minister for Forest, Ecology & Environment Choudhary Lal Singh today said the Government is revisiting its existing policies for pollution control with focus on curbing increasing carbon emissions in the State.
The Minister said this while addressing a public gathering held at Hiranagar today. MLA Hiranagar Kuldeep Raj was also present on the occasion.
Choudhary Lal Singh said the forests are essential assets for the State and every endeavor will be made to protect and preserve them at all costs. He further said that every human is a stakeholder in the conservation of forests and people should take part in plantation drives besides encouraging it at all levels.
He said an effective mechanism will be adopted to lower the carbon emissions which will improve the overall ecological balance in the State.
Various deputations of Hiranagar putforth their demands and problems during the public meet.
Choudhary Lal Singh assured the people of redressal of their problems on a priority basis.
He appealed the people for their mass participation during Shahidi Diwas to be observed on December 11, 2016 at Shahidi Chowk Kathua to pay homage to the martyrs of district Kathua who laid down their lives for safeguarding the country. He informed that families of the martyrs will be honored during the event.
Vice Chairman, OBC Advisory Board Rachhpal Verma, HODs of various wings of Forest Department, DFOs, officers of tehsil administration and prominent citizens attended the meeting.
