NEW DELHI, Aug 2: Jammu and Kashmir has bagged the coveted Today’s Traveller Award being given to the outstanding performers in the corporate, hospitality, travel and entertainment industries.
J&K Tourism Department  conferred  with Today’s Traveller Award 2016 for Best MICE and Golfing Destination under the Domestic Tourism Category for its efforts for promotion and providing the world class Golfing and MICE facilities.
Minister of State (I/C), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, Vijay Goel presented the award to  Farooq A Shah, Secretary Tourism  and Sushma Chauhan, Director Tourism, Jammu  at a function held in Taj Palace here today.
“J&K Tourism team worked very hard  last year with aggressive promotion as a result of which we have witnessed unprecedented tourist arrivals in J&K during the summer vacations. Road shows on Golf and MICE Tourism were undertaken in potential cities in the year 2015-16 and witnessed good response from there”, Farooq Shah said.
J&K has developed Golf Courses at famous tourist destinations like Gulmarg, Phalgam, Srinagar, Sanasar, newly commissioned Jammu Tawi Golf Course, Sidhra and upcoming Golf Course at Jai, Bhaderwah. State has hosted many national and international conferences, meetings and exhibitions successfully and offers world class infrastructure and facilities at Pahalgam, Srinagar and Jammu for MICE Tourism, he further added.
Sushma Chauhan interacted with representatives of different Travel Trade Associations present on the occasion and insisted them to promote J&K as round the year tourist destination.
