J&K Police to face SGPC in finals today

JAMMU, Feb 25:  Defeated their rivals convincingly in the semifinals today, SGPC Amritsar and J&K Police Central Hockey team sealed berths in the finals of the  ongoing 4th Sant Gurbaksh Singh (Danna) Memorial Hockey Tournament, being organized by SPDC Trust, Guru Nanak Nagar, under the aegis of Hockey J&K at KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium, here.
Now, J&K Police Central Hockey Team will take on SGPC Amritsar in the summit clash tomorrow.
Earlier, in the first semifinal, SGPC Amritsar defeated New Gurdaspur XI by four goals to two (4-2) via penalty shootout. Earlier, both the teams scored one goal each in the stipulated time.  The goals were scored by Gurtej Singh in 28th minute and Rahul in 55th minute from SGPC Amritsar and New Gurdaspur XI in the allotted time respectively. In the penalty shootout, Gurtej Singh, Robinpreet and Ravinder Pal netted goals for SGPC Amritsar, while Gurkirat Singh scored the lone goal for New Gurdaspur XI.
In another semifinal match, J&K Police Central team defeated Punjabi University Patiala by two goals to one via penalty shootout. Earlier, the match ended in goalless draw in the stipulated time, Satwant and Sunil scored goals for J&K Police, while Karanveer was the goal scorer for Punjabi University Patiala.
ADGP Security, Dilbag Singh interacted with the participating teams on the occasion, while Ashwani Khajuria, RTO Jammu was the chief guest and Updesh Kour Bali was then guest of honour.
The matches were officiated by Iqbal Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Joginder Singh, Karanjit Singh, Manjeet Singh, Senapati, Mukesh Kumar and Satvir Singh, Tournament Director.
Prominent  among others present on the occasion Rajinder Singh Raja, GS Bakshi, Indpal Singh Munna, Harvinder Singh, PP Singh, Janak Singh, Harbans Singh Chib, Gurcharanjeet Singh, Jaswant Singh and MS Reen.
