J&K Physically Challenged Cricketers leave for Nationals

JAMMU, Feb 24: Jammu & Kashmir Physically Challenged Cricket team left for Lucknow to participate in National Tournament namely ‘Super Six Divyang Cricket Championship’, being organized by Uttar Pradesh Physically Challenged Cricket Association, under the auspices of Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India.
The other participating teams include Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana.
The flag off ceremony was conducted at Parade Ground Jammu in a simple function. Rajesh Gill, Former Ranji Trophy Player and Cricket Promoter was the chief guest on the occasion, while Ashish Singh, MD Horizon Group of Companies was the guest of honour.
The chief guest and guest of honour distributed the uniforms and sports equipments among the selected players of the team.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr Gill who is also the caretaker of the J&K Physically Challenged Cricket team informed the best performers in the Championship will be shortlisted for the National team (Indian team) and the national team will participate in the World Cup which is being scheduled to be held at England from August 2 to August 16, 2019.
He further informed that in a recent meeting the BCCI governing body of Administrators (COA) approved the Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India for their participation in the World Cup at England.
“India’s participation was in the balance after England and Wales Cricket Board made it mandatory for the BCCI to approve their entry. After months of pleas and email exchanges with the BCCI, the COA finally approved their participation for the tournament,” he added.
Mr Ashish announced that his Company will sponsor the J&K Physically Challenged Cricket team whenever they visit other states for participation in national tournaments.
Captain Mohd Nadeem Bhat extended thanks to Police Department, especially Rajesh Gill and Rajesh Dhar for making J&K Cricket team and providing lots of opportunities for the participation in national tournaments for the last two and half years.
The Team: Mohd Nadeem (Reasi, Captian), Vivek Sharma (Reasi), Jagmohan (Reasi), Firdose (Kisthwar), Bunty Singh (Jammu), Ravi Sharma (Jammu), Shaid Chodre (Poonch), Amir (Srinagar), Zaffar (Srinagar), Majid (Srinagar), Ranjeet Singh (Jammu), Deepak Sharma (Jammu), Rahul (Jammu) and Aman Sharma (Reasi).
Sham Singh Langey is accompanying the team as Manager cum Coach.
