J&K Pencak Silat team bags 2nd place in Federation Cup

SRINAGAR, Jan 2: Jammu and Kashmir Pencak Silat team won runners-up trophy in the 2nd Federation Cup 2017, organized by Maharashtra Pencak Silat Association, under the aegis of Indian Pencak Silat Federation at Mumbai.
J&K bagged 4 gold, 5 silver and 12 bronze medals in the championship.
2 players Sehrish Zahoor and Sheikh Mueen have been selected for the National Coaching Camp for the onward participation of Indian team in the 18th Asian Games 2018 at Jakarta, while 6 players namely Zakariya Bhat, Tawzeeh Mujeeb, Ubaid Lateef, Tawqeer-ul-Nisa, Eliya  Mansoor and Sheikh Najmus Saqib have been selected for the Junior World Pencak Silat Championship 2018 to be held from April 20 to 29, 2018 at Thailand.
Rayees Ahmad accompanied the team as Coach and Suheel Ahmad was the manager for the boys’ team and Seerat Qayoom was the in-charge for the female team.
The J&K team participated in the event under the patronage of Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council.
