JAMMU, June 26: Keeping in view that people from Jammu had to travel to bigger cities like Delhi and Chandigarh for getting heart operations performed, JK Medicity, Jammu has started performing heart surgeries.
Many times patients in critical condition are shifting to Delhi or Chandigarh, which not only becomes very risky but also very expensive, as 3-4 people have to travel along with the patient for surgeries like By-pass and other complex heart operations.
Keeping this in mind and to provide people of Jammu best quality heart care, JK Medicity Hospital Jammu in collaboration with Dr Ajay Kaul (Chairman, Cardiac Sciences, BLK Hospital, New Delhi) have decided to start a Cardiac Surgery programme at Jammu.
Under this collaboration, 1st heart operation was successfully performed at JK Medicity by Dr Gurjit Singh and his team along with Dr Ajay Kaul. The Anesthesia team was headed by Dr Gurmeet Singh. The patient operated for valvular heart disease is recovering well.
There are plans to perform all complex operations like Coronary By-pass surgery, Valve surgery and surgery for heart disease in children on a regular basis.
