J&K to host mega Wrestling event on Aug 20: Lal Singh

JAMMU, July 16: A national level Wrestling competition is going to be conducted on August 20, 2017 at MA Stadium, Jammu in Olympic style and Indian Style Wrestling. Bouts in each style in all weight categories will be played in the event.
This was stated by the President of Jammu and Kashmir Wrestling Association, Ch Lal Singh, Minister for Forest, Environment/Ecology while addressing media persons at his residence at Gandhi Nagar, here today.
He said that he intends to undertake the activities of Wrestling on war footing in order to boost the morale of State wrestlers, adding that the prize money for first bout will be 1,11000, which will be followed by the second 75000, 3rd 50000, 4th 31000 and 5th 21000. Three bouts amounting to Rs 11000 each will also be conducted in each style.
The Minister said that the mega event will be followed by the conduct of local activities at different districts of the State viz Kathua, Rajouri, Poonch, Samba, Dida, Reasi, Udhampur, Ramban, Kishtwar, Srinagar and Ganderbal.
Ch Lal Singh further said that the State Wrestling Championship will be held in third week of September 2017 duly sponsored by State Sports Council prior to the participation of State Wrestling team in Senior National Free Style and Greco Roman Style Wrestling Championship from November 15, 2017 to November 18, 2017 at Indore in Madhya Pradesh.
“It has also been decided to send women Wrestling team for the National Championship. Prominent women wrestlers are undergoing training under the guidance of Nisha Sharma Inter University Bronze Medalist,” Ch Lal Singh added.
The Minister disclosed that recently General Body Meeting of Jammu Kashmir Wrestling Association was held at Conference Hall of Gindun Stadium Rajbagh Srinagar on July 7, 2017 to elect its office bearers in presence of Imran Raza Ansari, Minister for IT, Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports and Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra, Secretary State Sports Council.
Prominent among others present in the conference included Rakesh Khajuria General Secretary, Raj Kumar Maini Treasurer, Prem Nath Sharma,Mulakh Raj Sharma,Bansi Lal Tidyal, Inderjeet Khajuria, PR Sharma,Shiv Kumar Sharma, Joint Secretary State Sports Council Jammu, Krishan Lal, Bulkaar Singh, Allah Mai, Beni Ameen, Shatrugan Sharma and Rakesh.
