J&K Grameen Bank employees continue strike

JAMMU, Mar 27: On the call of United Forum of Regional Rural Bank Union and All India Regional Rural Bank Employees’ Association, J&K Grameen Bank Officers’ Association (JKGBOA) and J&K Grameen Bank Employees’ Association (JKGBEA) continued their strike for the second consecutive day today.
The agitating employees also held a protest dharna in front of the Grameen Bank’s head office at Narwal, in which a large number of serving and retired officers/officials of the bank participated.
They raised slogans in support of their demands, which include stoppage of privatization move in Regional Rural Banks (RRBs), pension and provident fund parity at par with NCBs, extension of computer increment in line with sponsor banks and implementation of compassionate appointment scheme with retrospective effect.
They are also demanding declaration of IBA as apex level negotiating forum for RRBs in line with sponsor bank, ensuring minimum wage and other allied benefits pending regularization of daily waged/casual workers in line with sponsor banks, and ensuring parity of service regularization at par with sponsor bank, covering pay, allowances and superannuation benefits.
The protest dharna was addressed by Com Amit Laira (president, JKGBOA), Com Rashpal Choudhary (general secretary, JKGBOA), Avinash Singh (president, JKGBEA), Vikas K Choudhary (general secretary, JKGBEA), Pawan Baru (president J&K Grameen Bank Retirees Welfare Association), Karan Singh (general secretary, JKGB Retired Employees’ Association), R S Billowaria and Com Ranjit Kapoor.
