J&K Forest holds F&S XI to 1-1 draw

SRINAGAR, Oct 21: J&K Forest held F&S XI to 1-1 draw, while Lone Star KFC drew with Young Maharaja In the ongoing State Football League-2017, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association at Synthetic Turf, TRC, here.
Earlier, in the Premier-Division match, J&K Forest and Food & Supplies (F&S) played a 1-1- draw. Right from the start of the match, both the teams played aggressive football and attacked each other’s goal posts frequently. But it was F&S team which broke the shackles in 5th minute of the match, when Imran breached the defence lines of Forest team and ensured his team takes an early lead.
After conceding the lead, the Forest players stepped up their attacks on F&S goal post and in 37th minute of the play they scored an equalizer through Rizwan. The first half ended with score line reading 1-1. As the second half began, both the teams played defensive football for most of the times which resulted in no more goals being scored. The match ended in a 1-1 draw and it was a fair result for both the teams. Yasin of F&S team was declared as player of the match.
The Super Division match of the day, played at Synthetic Turf TRC, also ended in a 1-1 draw between Lone Star KFC Blue and Young Maharaja FC. In the closely contested match, both the teams missed several scoring opportunities throughout the 90-minutes of the play. In first half no team was able to score as defence lines of both the teams’ thwarted all the moves to score by the opposite teams.
In second half, no team could score in the first 25 minutes and it seemed that the match was heading for a goal less draw when all of a sudden Nadeem Ahmad of Lone Star team managed to send one straight into the goal post of Maharaja team. However, seeing their team trailing, the Maharaja players summed up all their energy and launched several counter attacks on the goal post of Lone Star team. For 15-minutes, Lone Star defenders didn’t allow the Maharaja players to breach the defence line. However, in 85th minute of the match, Owais managed to score an all important goal for Maharaja Sports through a penalty kick. In the last five minutes of the match, both teams desperately tried to score, but failed to do so. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The State Football League-2017 is being organized by the J&K Football Association (JKFA) in all 22 districts of the state to unearth the hidden talent. More than 500 football teams and clubs with over 12000 players and over 1500 team officials are participating in the mega event, first of its kind in the history of J&K football.
