KOLKATA, Mar 2: Jammu and Kashmir will face a tough battle against star-studded Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Group D match, here tomorrow.
While Karnataka have won all the three matches played so far in the tournament, Jammu and Kashmir have yet to open their account.
With three consecutive defeats, one expects a few changes in the J&K team, however, it will be only confirmed when the management takes a decision before the match tomorrow.
On the one hand, Jammu and Kashmir batsmen have proved a failure in holding their nerves in pressure situations, Karnataka, on the other hand, have a strong batting lineup with the likes of skipper Manish Panday, Robin Uthappa, Mayank Agarwal and Stuart Binny in their ranks.
For J&K, apart from Ahmed Pandey, skipper Parvez Rasool and Punit Bisht (who all are among the runs), Ian Dev Singh and Shubham Khajuria (who have struggled so far) will have to pull their socks and deliver against the toughest team in the Group.
It will not be a surprise, if J&K registers an upset win in this match as Jammu and Kashmir has the record of turning the tables against the strong teams.
On the bowling front, J&K have a decent attack in Mohd Mudhasir, Parvez Rasool, Ramdayal and Umar Nazir and it will be interesting to see as to whether anyone among Manik Gupta, Zahoor Sofi or Mehjoor Ali will get the management’s nod for this match.
For Karnataka, Srinath Aravind and Shreyas Gopal are the big names in the bowling department.
