J&K drubs DAV to keep hopes alive for Pre-QFs

JAMMU, Dec 21: Jammu and Kashmir boys got the better of their counterparts from DAV by 7 wickets to keep hopes alive for Pre-Quarterfinals stage of the ongoing 64th National School Games Under-19 Boys Cricket Tournament, being organised by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, under the auspices of School Games Federation of India at various venues, here.
The Tournament in which over 25 States/Union Territories are participating, is being held under the overall supervision of Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director General Youth Services and Sports, J&K.
Earlier, batting first, DAV scored 98 runs in the stipulated 15 overs. Rajan top scored with 39 runs. From J&K, Younis, Kartik and Ashank claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, Jammu and Kashmir scored the required runs easily by losing 3 wickets, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Sarthak Peshin top scored with brisk 28 runs. From DAV, Sarav Ratan took 2 wickets.
In other matches, Maharashtra defeated Dadar Nagar by 65 runs at Parade Ground; IPSC trounced Odisha in a thriller by 2 runs at Smailpur; Haryana drubbed IBSO by a huge margin of 138 runs at Parade Ground Jammu, Madhya Pradesh beat Bihar by 4 wickets at Jammu University ground; Punjab thrashed Chhattisgarh by 64 runs at SMVD University Katra; CBSE defeated Andhra Pradesh by 4 wickets at KC Sports Club Jammu; Chandigarh prevailed over Daman Diu by 8 wickets at Parade Ground, Jammu; Kerala beat KVS by 6 wickets at Smailpur and Haryana outplayed CISCE by 2 runs at KC Sports Club Ground, Jammu.
Meanwhile, DG Sports Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman is keeping close vigil on all kind of arrangements including boarding and lodging, food and ground facilities.
He visited almost all the venues to take stock of the arrangements.
