J&K crushes Kerala by 253 runs

JAMMU, Jan 11: Jammu and Kashmir crushed Kerala by a big margin of 253 runs in the CK Nayudu Under-23 Cricket Tournament at Country Cricket Stadium, Gharota, near here today.
Earlier, chasing a victory target of 402 runs in their second essay, Jharkhand resumed the innings from an overnight score of 10/1 and lost the wickets at regular intervals to bundle out for 149 runs, thus losing the match by a huge margin of 253 runs. Apart from Albin Alias (35) and Rohan S Kannummal (31), none of the other batsmen could show much resistance against the disciplined bowling by all the J&K Bowlers. From Jammu and Kashmir, Irfan Haq took 3 wickets, while Auqib Nabi, Sahil Lotra and Abid Mushtaq bagged 2 wickets each. Paras Sharma also claimed one wicket.
It is pertinent to mention here that J&K after winning the toss and batting first scored 161 runs in their first innings, with Paras Sharma top scoring with 42 runs and Basil NP emerging top wicket taker from Keral with 3 wickets.
Kerala, in reply, collapsed at 63 runs in their first innings as medium pacer Auqib Nabi and off-spinner Sahil Lotra wrecked havoc, scalping 5 and 4 wickets respectively.
J&K, in their second innings scored a good total of 304 runs to set a target of 402 runs for the rirvals. Paras Sharma, Hisham Saleem and Abhishant Bakshi scored half-centuries. Srehari S Nair took 3 wickets from Kerala.
