J&K Bank wins Excellence Award for PMJDY

Srinagar, Mar 26: J&K Bank was felicitated with Excellence Award for its outstanding performance under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna, the scheme which aims to eradicate financial untouchability and bring all the unbanked areas within the folds of formal economy.
Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Kalraj Mishra conferred the award to the bank in New Delhi amid huge gathering of country’s top industrialists, bankers and entrepreneurs. Chairman IBA and CMD Indian Bank T M Bhasin was the guest of honour on the occasion.
J&K Bank President R K Chhibber received the award at the function on behalf of the bank.
Commenting on the reception of award, Chairman and CEO Mushtaq Ahmed said, “At J&K Bank, we have been working for Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Yojna on mission mode basis so as to bring one and all across the State under the folds of economic growth of the country. And we see these large swathes of unbanked and underbanked areas within the country as upcoming centres of growth for banking and financial sector.”
“It is a strong recognition of hard-work put in by our staff to fulfill this mission with diligence and dedication. They really deserved it”, he added
Notably, the bank has opened more than one million accounts under the scheme across the State.
The nominees for the awards were appropriately rated on different parameters as per RBI directions given to the Banks.
Federation of Industry Trade and Services (FITS) had organized the event to applaud the extraordinary efforts of the policy makers, institutions and individuals who contributed to roaring success of this scheme.
