JAMMU, Feb 22: Jammu and Kashmir Junior Athletics team excelled in the 28th Junior Athletics North Zone Championship, which concluded at Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, today.
J&K team won 8 medals, with one gold, one silver and six bronze medals. All the medal winners have qualified to represent North Zone Athletics team in the Junior Inter-Zonal Athletics Championship, wherein apart from North Zone, the teams from South, East, West and Central Zone will take part. Amarjeet Singh was the star performer, who won gold in 400 meters and bronze each in long jump and 4×100 meters relay, while Sunil Choudhary won silver in 400 meters and the other bronze medal winners included Shakir Rashid (100 mtrs; 4×100 Mtrs), Varun Kumar (100 Mtrs Hurdles and 4X100 Mtrs), Shubam Sharma (400 Mtrs) and Abid Hussain (200 Mtrs and 4X100 Mtrs).
President Jammu and Kashmir Athletics Association, S Rangil Singh and General Secretary S Ravinder Singh have lauded the efforts of the athletes for this achievement.
