J&K artists enthral Keralites during Jashn-e-Kashmir festival

JAMMU, Mar 5: J&K artists enthralled Keralites during 15 days long Jashn-e-Kashmir festival, which was organised by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in-collaboration with South Zone Cultural Centre (SZCC), Bharat Bhavan, Department of Culture, Government of Kerala and Folklore Akademi, Department of Culture, Government of Kerala at Kerala.
The first day of the festival began with the road show by all the artists of J&K, which started from Trivandrum to Kanakakunnath palace, wherein traditional lamp was lit to inaugurate the fest by the chief guest AC Moideen, Minister for Industries, Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Kerala in presence of Advocate VK Prasanth, Mayor Trivindrium, who was the guest of honour on the occasion. Dilshad Khan, Commissioner Secretary Culture, J&K Government was the special guest on the occasion. Dr EN Sajith, Director SZCC, Tanjavur, Programme Officer SZCC, Nazir Hussain, Deputy Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Dr Alamdar Hussain, Cultural Officer JKAACL, Indra Gajaraj, Former Station Director, AIR and many other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
In his welcome address, Dr EN Sajith, Director SZCC, Tanjavur highlighted the importance of this festival in Kerala.
Dilshad Khan, Commissioner Secretary Culture, J&K Government said that culture exchange maintains bridge between the people of different States.
During the festival, various items were showcased in different district of the Kerala like Kannur, Kovalaum, Amrita University Campus, Palakkad and Vallore.
Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Dr Aziz Hajani said aim of organizing such mega cultural programmes in other States will help and boost the tourism in J&K.
On the valedictory function, PK Sreemathi, Member of Parliament was the chief guest, while Mir Mohammad Ali, District Collector, Kannur Kerala was the guest of honour. Dr AK Nambiar, Secretary Folklore Akademi, Department of Culture was the special guest.
During the festival, artists from J&K presented various programmes and entertained the people of Kerala.
The proceedings were conducted by Rajesh, Programme Office, Bharat Bhavan, Department of Culture, Kerala.
In the end, the vote of thanks was presented by Nazir Hussain, Deputy Secretary, SOCA-G1, J&K Cultural Academy.
