Talks and terror

Within less than 24 hours of announcing that Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan would meet on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly in New York next week, the Government took a decision yesterday itself to call off the talks. This follows hours after three Policemen not on duty, were kidnapped from their homes and later brutally killed by terrorists in Kashmir. That Pakistan should release the postal stamps glorifying Kashmiri terrorist Burhan Wani while simultaneously beseeching India for Foreign Ministers’ level talks amply signify the precarious contradictory political forces in Pakistan clashing with one another to establish their sway but in the process, exposing Pakistan to the hilt about how on perpetual basis, an animosity between the two countries was the cause and the purpose of existence of such powerful forces in Pakistan.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar, while addressing media persons yesterday said, “The true face of Imran Khan has been exposed in his first few months in office”. He further said that talks with Pakistan in such an environment would be meaningless. Further, it was made clear that “the latest brutal killings of our security personnel by Pakistan based entities and the release of a series of 20 postage stamps by Pakistan glorifying a terrorist and terrorism confirm that Pakistan will not mend its ways”. The Foreign Ministry spokesperson further noted that “two deeply disturbing developments have taken place since yesterday’s announcement of a meeting between the Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan in New York later this month.”
India, in the larger interest, sensing perhaps a change of guard in Pakistan might have brought in some change in the avowed state policy of terrorism which that country has been pursuing very religiously for more than three decades towards this country, therefore, had decided to positively respond to the request letter of Imran Khan which he had recently written to Prime Minister Narindra Modi. India, therefore, had decided to give a chance to and test any possibility of some sincerity having visited Pakistan of late, leading towards taking a decision of holding of talks with an aim to give peace some plausibility and conceivability. Pakistan miserably failed to hide its intrinsic conflicts of perceptions and its mask of deception and double cross fell off its face.
India, even otherwise, had made it abundantly clear that the talks on sidelines of the UNGA next month did not mean resumption of any dialogue between the two neighbours reasserting that “talks and terror cannot go together”. The direct and brazen link between Pakistan and its agents, terrorists and supporters in Kashmir valley became more vivid and evocative when three policemen were dragged out of their homes in Shopian in Kashmir early yesterday and killed by terrorists. The bodies of these policemen, all Special Police Officers, were found hours later in an orchard riddled with bullets. Hizbul Mujahdeen terrorists, it may be noted, had put out a video threatening to kill policemen if they did not post resignations on line. A link or a chain can be found between all the events and upshots with Pakistan while on the other hand, feigning about eagerness to hold talks lead to firmly establishing of extreme evil intentions of Pakistan.
