Jeera futures edge higher on spot demand

NEW DELHI, July 9: Jeera prices were higher by Rs 170 to Rs 18,730 per quintal in futures trade today as investors enlarged their bets tracking higher export and spot demand.
Furthermore, restricted arrivals from growing regions also supported the jeera futures prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery this month’s contract was trading higher Rs 170, or 0.92 per cent, to Rs 18,730 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,376 lots.
The contract for August delivery was trading at Rs 18,880, up by 0.77 per cent, or Rs 18,880. The open interest of the contract stood at 4,866 lots.
Traders said speculative positions built up by participants amid rising domestic as well as export demand led to the rise in jeera prices. (PTI)
