JE caught red handed accepting bribe

UDHAMPUR, May 13: A Junior Engineer of Rural Engineering Wing of Block Mungri, district Udhampur, has been caught red handed by Vigilance Organization Jammu while demanding and accepting bribe from the complainant.
The accused, namely Sunil Gupta, son of Late  Kishori Lal Gupta of  Talab Sailan,  Udhampur,  JE in Rural Engineering Wing Block Mungri, was demanding and accepting Rs 25000 as bribe from complainant Pyara Singh of  Prand,  tehsil Mungri for releasing payment  of the amount against execution of work done by him.
The complainant had worked as facilitator nominated by Gramsewak Block Mongri for execution of work from November 2016 to December 2016 at Prand. The said JE demanded an amount of Rs 55000/- from him for payment of the amount against the execution of the work done by him. Of the demanded amount Rs 20000/- had already been paid by the complainant to the accused JE and Rs 10000/- through his son Anil Singh. However,  the said JE told  him that he would not be provided Government cement for the another undergoing work, which is underway since February 2017,  subject to providing of remaining amount of Rs 25000.
Thereafter, the complainant approached Vigilance Organization, which registered  a case under FIR No.18/2017 P/S VOJ under section 5(1)(d) r/w section 5(2) of J&K P.C Act and section 4-A P.C Act (Amended-2014), against JE  Sunil Gupta and laid a trap.
During the trap, under the command of  Dy SP Kamaljeet Singh and Inspector Zafar Amin,  the accused  JE  was caught red handed while demanding and accepting Rs 25000/- as illegal gratification from the   complainant.
After completing all necessary formalities the said JE was arrested for further legal action. Investigation of the case is going on.
