JDA seals restaurant at Bahu Plaza, retrieves 74 kanals land in Samba

JAMMU, July 14: Giving a tough signal to the defaulters and encroachers of JDA property and defaulters of rent, Jammu Development Authority (JDA) today sealed a restaurant at Bahu Plaza for non-payment of rent and retrieved 74 kanals of valuable land from encroachers at Village Birpur in Samba district.
The 1st operation was conducted by revenue wing of JDA under the close supervision of DS Katoch, Director Land Management, JDA, on the directions of Rajesh Kumar Shavan, Vice Chairman, JDA. The team resealed the famous Restaurant “Smokin-Joes” at Bahu Plaza and started the action for recovery of rent. The restaurant is owned by Bikramjit Singh Sehgal. The premise was rented out to him in the year 2005 by the JDA. However the owner was not depositing the outstanding rent dues.
The sealing operation was headed by Dr Zeba Suleman, Tehsildar JDA Zone -B along with Khilafwarzi Officer, Pankaj Singh. They were assisted by Khilafwarzi Inspectors, Rajinder Kumar, Ramesh Kumar, Rajinder Choudhary and Freed Hussain.
Meanwhile in compliance to the directions passed by High Court of J&K State in WPPIL No 19/2011, JDA also retrieved 74 kanals of valuable land from encroachers falling at Khasra No 529, 530, 532 and 533 at Village Birpur, Tehsil Bari Brahmana in District Samba.
The demolition operation was conducted by the enforcement wing of JDA with the assistance of police and revenue officers of District Samba. The land was under encroachment by way of some kuccha/pucca structures which were demolished and JDA sign boards installed on the land.
