JDA retrieves 30 kanals of encroached land

JAMMU, Aug 4: Acting tough against the encroachers, Jammu Development Authority (JDA) today retrieved about 30 kanals of land at Chinore Chowk from the encroachers.
One Kuldeep Raj Gupta had encroached upon the land by constructing an illegal Janjghar and parking space. The Vice-Chairman of JDA R K Shavan has directed the Tehsildar to fence the entire land within week’s time and lodge FIR against the encroachers.
The JDA also got fenced two kanals of prime land at Sitni near National Highway Nagrota Bye-pass which got vacated by the Deputy Commissioner Jammu during anti encroachment drive along highway.
The VC has directed the XEN Mega Project to issue EOI for seeking the work for geo-tagging of all JDA land including the land coming under the banks of River Tawi.
Meanwhile, Vice-Chairman reviewed the developmental works and passed necessary directions to the officers.
During the meeting, it was informed that the open stage at Bahu Plaza is almost ready and will be put to use for folk dances, cultural activities, Mushaira and DJ parties.
Completed at a cost of Rs 40 lakh, it has modern facilities like changing room for the artists and all weather electric fittings.
The works related to River Tawi Front Development and Development of Economic Centre were also reviewed in the meeting and Deputy Director Geology and Mining intimated that the soil investigation at the proposed Economic Centre is under process and the report shall be submitted once the data is compiled.
