JAMMU, Sept 22: Continuing its drive against the land mafia, Jammu Development Authority (JDA) launched a major crack down in Narwal, Ware House and Trikuta Nagar areas.
The drive was launched to effectively deal with the chronic cases of encroachments and redress the complaints of the nearby inhabitants of area.
In Narwal ISBT, many unauthorized khokhas, reharies were removed and unclaimed scrap and unserviceable vehicles cleared from the site.
In a statement, Vice Chairman JDA Rajesh Kumar Shavan said that JDA is contemplating to take stringent action against the violators by canceling their lease deeds and also by sealing shops of all unauthorized occupants.
He said that certain people have violated the terms and conditions of lease deeds and sub-letted the shops without knowledge of JDA which is a gross violation of existing norms.
In Trikuta Nagar area, the unauthorized construction was demolished, which was being carried out in violation of Master Plan. In Ware House, about 20 kanals land was cleared from the unauthorized possession behind Hotel Asia. The Khilafwarzi wing also foiled on attempt of land grabbers at BC Road and fenced about 2 kanals valuing worth Rs 8 crores.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, HK Singh, also made round of all sites of developmental projects where JDA is going to construct mega projects. He reviewed the progress and instructed the JDA to re-double the efforts to complete all projects on time. He visited old bus stand area where multi-storey parking is being developed at a cost of Rs 213 crore and the site of Maharaja Hari Singh park.
Commissioner Secretary was accompanied by VC JDA, SE JDA, Xens and other field staffs.
A deputation of shopkeepers at ISBT met Commissioner Secretary and apprised him of the problems being faced by them. The officer assured them of needful action.
