JCCB celebrates Cooperative Week

JAMMU, Nov 17: As part of the ongoing celebrations of 64th Cooperative Week, a function was organized in the premises of Jammu Central Cooperative Bank (JCCB) at Sehkari Bhawan, Rail Head Complex, here today.
The celebrations commenced with the unfurling of cooperative flag by Bashir Ahmed Bhat, Secretary, Cooperative Department.  Speaking on the occasion, he said that the cooperative model is participatory and community oriented and due to its grass roots approach the impact of its development is equitable and sustainable.
Bhat further said that excessive commercialization and negative consequences of market have disturbed ‘the balance of the model of economic growth. However, it was the cooperative banks which are an exception to the scenario as they did not subscribe to the concept of “Casino Banking” and are in the forefront in providing affordable crediting both short term and long term to its borrowers by wholeheartedly subscribing to the philosophy of one for all and all for one, he added.
While speaking on the occasion, Registrar Cooperative Societies J&K, Peerzada Hafizulla said that the mandate of the cooperative sector is not earning profit but to provide services to people with distinction, especially to the farmers and poor sections of the society.
Rajesh Sharma, Chairman, Cooperative Union,  assured full cooperation and support to the societies for their full expansion and progress and  said his doors are always  open to the cooperatives.
Earlier,  General Manager (Adm)/CEO Mohd. Mushtaq gave resume of the activities of the Bank.  He apprised that JCCB came into existence on 30th  April 2014 during the regime of Maharaja’s in the State and completed its centenary (104th) year of the existence this year.
Later, votes of thanks were presented by R K KouI, Head of Inspection  and Vigilance Wing of JCC Bank.
Additional Registrar Coop. Societies Jammu  Tanveer Ahmed Malik, Joint Registrar Cooperative Societies (B&F),  S K Gupta, Joint Registrar (Special)  Cooperative Societies,  Raj Kumar Thappa, Chairman Housing Corporation,  V K Maggo besides MD JAKFED, Dy General Manager (DGM) NABARD and others were present on the occasion.
