JAMMU, Mar 3: Outplaying formidable Sports Council XI by a big margin of 91 runs in the summit clash, star-studded Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) lifted the title trophy of the much awaited prestigious State Level Chief Minister’s Cricket Cup, organised by Country Cricket Academy in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council at Gharota, near here today.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), Ashiq Hussain Bukhari was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who interacted with the players and distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion.
He was accompanied by Divisional Sports Officer, Ravi Singh, representatives from JKCA namely Sham Swaroop Kalsotra and Shiban Lal Trakroo, besides Randhir Singh (Coach), Ashwani Gupta, Sandeep Singh Sunny and Rajan Singh.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, JCC scored a decent total of 254 runs in the stipulated 45 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Deepak Dogra (Baba) top scored with unbeaten 73 runs off 58 balls, studded with 8 fours and 2 sixes, while Rohan Koul also contributed quick-fire unbeaten 40 runs off 23 balls, with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Shubham Singh Pundir, Sandeep Singh and Guru Partap Singh also contributed valuable 38, 30 and 26 runs to the total respectively. For Sports Council XI, Waseem Raza was the pick off the bowlers, who took 3 important wickets, while Nadeem claimed one wicket.
In reply, Sports Council XI bundled out for 161 runs in 32.1 overs, thus lost the match by a big margin of 91 runs. Khalid Bhat top scored with 45 runs off 38 balls, studded with 6 boundaries, while Nazir Bhat and Sameer contributed 26 and 21 runs to the total respectively.
For JCC, Rohit Sharma,  Rahil Singh, Vishwajeet Singh, Deepak Dogra and Paras Sharma claimed 2 wickets each. Deepak Dogra was adjudged as man of the match for his superb all-round display, while Vijay Dogra of National Cricket Club was declared man of the series for taking 16 wickets and scoring over 100 runs in the tournament.
Later-on, the chief guest, Mr Bukhari and other dignitaries presented a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 80,000 to the winners, while the runners-up team received a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 40,000 from the chief guest on the occasion.
Mementoes were also presented to Vikrant Sharma, Director Country Cricket Academy and Sandeep Singh Sunny, former Ranji Trophy Player for their valuable contribution in the tournament.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest lauded the efforts of the organisers for conducting this mega event, in which 32 teams from across the state took part.
He also informed that JKCA will be holding Jammu Kashmir Premier League (JKPL) very soon.
The Tournament was held under the overall supervision of Vivek Sharma, former Ranji Trophy Player.
Meanwhile, JCC players attributed their success to Mithun Manhas, President of the Club, besides their coach Suresh Singh.
The match was officiated by Amit Gupta and Sadiq Hussain Malik as umpires and Lakshya as scorer, while the proceedings of the programme were conducted by anchor Rajesh Dhar.
