JCC drubs Royal Strikers in Chief Minister’s Cricket Cup

JAMMU, Mar 5: Sailing on a brilliant half-century by veteran Guru Partap Singh, Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) got better of Royal Strikers Kathua to advance in the ongoing 1st State Level 50-Overs Cricket Tournament for Chief Minister’s Cup, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council in collaboration with Country Cricket Academy at Gharota, near here.
The Tournament is being held in the memory of Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, former Chief Minister, under the supervision of Vikrant Sharma, Director Country Cricket Academy.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Royal Strikers Kathua scored a modest total of 137 runs. Surinder Singh was the top scorer with 28 runs, while Raman Kumar contributed 19 runs to the total. For JCC, Rohan, Deepak Dogra, Jaipal, Guru Partap Singh and Jatinder Singh shared 2 wickets each.
In reply, JCC achieved the target easily in 32 overs. Guru Partap Singh scored magnificent 52 runs off 71 balls, while Shubhm Singh Pundir contributed 40 off 24 balls. Both the batsmen were in awesome touch and played all the shots with elegance and grace. For his all-round display, Guru Partap Singh was adjudged as man of the match.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were organizing secretary, Vivek Sharma, Ashwani Kumar and former Ranji Trophy cricketer, Sandeep Singh.
In tomorrow’s fixture, UCC Udhampur will take on Domana Cricket Club at 9 am.
