JCC calls for protests on May 23

Srinagar, May 12: The Joint Consultative Committee of State Government employees today called for protests on May 23 against Government’s failure to honour the agreement it made with the employees.
While speaking at one day convention of JCC at District Institute of Education Bemina, the JCC leaders Abdul Qayoom Wani, Khursheed Aalam and Gafoor Dar called for strike by Government employees at District Headquarters across the State against Government for deceiving its employees.
The JCC leaders said that it was earlier resolved that the strike will be deferred keeping in view the difficulties of common people and over the assurance of Chief Secretary Mohd Iqbal Khanday.
“It was felt that the Government has been deceiving the employees of the State by playing delay tactics. The meeting was called to discuss the problems faced by employees and to chalk out the future course of action regarding the implementation of the agreement already reached between State Government and JCC Leaders”, said a statement issued after the day long convention.
The statement said that the participants of the meeting stressed that deferred agitation should be restarted by organizing protest from all the districts of the State. “The protest will be led by the JCC leaders and memorandum will be submitted to Deputy Commissioners with regard to implementation of the agreement”, the statement adds.
The JCC leaders told the meeting that they will not succumb to any pressure. “If the Government tried to muzzle the voice of the employees it will be confronted strongly, responsibility of which will lie on the shoulders of the Government”, they said.
The statement said: “It was unanimously decided that if the Government failed to fulfill the demand including increase in the retirement age by two years , regularization of all adhoc , daily wagers, seasonal workers, removal of pay anomaly, inclusion of five years in the services of ReT’s, regularization of EVs after seven years inclusion of fifteen years in the services of migrant substitute teachers pending issues of Urban local bodies and public sector employees, transfer policy for ReT’s by or before 23-05-2013 JCC is left with no option but to continue its agitation.”
