JCB driver arrested for raping woman

RAJOURI, Apr 10: A JCB driver has been arrested for raping a married woman in Tarkassi area, falling under the jurisdiction of Kandi Police Station.
As per police sources, a JCB driver identified as Ravi Kumar, son of Lekh Raj, a resident of Bhal Bhakhar, Tehsil Sunderbani during the intervening night of April 8 and 9 entered into the house of a lady at Tarkassi and allegedly raped her.
The accused, who has been engaged in the construction work of road from Tarkassi to Pnaihad threatened the woman of dire consequences, if she revealed the ordeal to anyone.
The incident was conspired by a contactor namely Mohammad Jamil, a resident of Thandi Kassi, District Rajouri.
The woman mustered courage and narrated the ordeal to her husband, who lodged a complaint against the accused at Police Post Teeri.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 36/18 under Section 376, 458 and 109 RPC was registered at Kandi Police Station and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, a joint team from Kandi Police Station and Teeri Police Post conducted raids in several areas and finally nabbed the accused.
After conducting medical examination, the woman has been handed over to family members.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Kandi Inspector Manzoor Kohli and assisted by Incharge Police Post Teeri SI Mohammad Nasir made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Operations Sukdev Singh and SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas.
