Jawan injured in mine blast

JAMMU, Mar 3: An Army jawan was injured in a land mine explosion at forward village of Ajote near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district this afternoon.
The jawan, who was part of a patrol team, accidentally stepped on a land mine in Ajote village of Khari Karmara sector. He lost his right leg in the explosion, sources said.
Injured has been identified as Naik Ahire Nelesh. He was immediately evacuated and admitted to Military Hospital.
Later, the jawan was shifted to the Udhampur Army Hospital for specialized treatment, they said.
Land mines are planted along the LoC to prevent infiltration from across the border.
