JAMMU, May 29: An Army jawan was seriously injured when he accidentally stepped on a landmine along the Line of Control (LoC) in the border district of Rajouri last evening.
The soldier was severely injured when he accidentally stepped on a “drifted landmine” in the forward area of Nowshera sector in Rajouri district, official sources said.
They said the injured soldier was immediately rushed to the Military Hospital.
“The soldier sustained injuries in his right leg and his condition is stated to be stable,” they said.
The landmines that are used to check infiltration along the Line of Control often drift from their position due to rains and other environment factors, sources said.
Recently, the Army had launched a special drive to de-mine several areas in Nowshera sector.
